Focus Group

Why do we really eat what we eat?

Focus Group All participants_edited.png

Join a small, interactive session exploring the real reasons behind our food choices.

Limited to 15-20 participants. No preparation needed.
This is not a lecture. It's not a diet program. Just a conversation that might change how you see food.

What Is This Session?

This is a 1.5–2 hour interactive focus group where we will explore how people actually make food decisions in real life.

It’s not about being “healthy.”

It’s not about being “right.”

It’s about understanding:

  • Why we choose certain foods in certain moments.

  • What makes change harder than we expect.

  • How habits, identity, and social situations influence us.

You’ll participate in simple engaging exercises and open discussions.

Who It's For

We’re intentionally bringing together a mix of people.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Eat (no need to be this or that or “perfect”).

  • Have tried, or thought about, changing how you eat.

  • Enjoy food and have opinions about it.

You don’t need any expertise. Just your real-life experience. If you want to invite your significant other, please do.

We’re looking for a small, diverse group to get different perspectives.

Limited to 15-20 participants. No preparation needed.

Why Take Part

Help shape our new book on food and decision-making:

  • Receive a free copy when it launches in September 2026.

  • Gain new insights into your own habits.

  • Experience a fun, interactive session (not a boring study).

  • Meet interesting people.

About Our Project

We’re developing a new approach called “Hire Your Food.”

The idea is simple:

We don’t just eat food: We “hire” it to do a job in our lives.

Sometimes that job is nourishment. Often, it’s something else like comfort, reward, convenience, or connection.

The "Hire Your Food" framework helps us understand those hidden drivers, so we can design better tools, workshops, and ideas to support real change. To learn more, please visit our website.

We’re based in Montreal, but we’re currently on Vancouver Island for a short retreat to finalize our upcoming book (September 2026). We chose this setting intentionally. British Columbia is often at the forefront of new ways of thinking about food, whether it’s plant-forward eating, sustainability, or mindful living.

It’s a place where different approaches coexist and where many trends quietly begin before spreading more widely. Being here allows us to step back, think deeply, and, most importantly, connect with people who bring fresh and diverse perspectives.

Your input will directly shape the final version of the book and the ideas we share beyond these sessions.
