What If We Could Hire Seafood Without Hiring the Fish?

Updated: Oct 13
Why We're Sharing This
What if we could enjoy the taste and experience of seafood without relying on catching or farming fish?

The Good Food Institute's Sustainable Seafood Initiative explores promising alternatives: plant-based seafood, cultivated fish, and fermentation-derived proteins.
These innovations aim to reduce pressure on our oceans while offering consumers new choices. Challenges remain, particularly around taste, affordability, and scaling production, but the possibilities are exciting.
The Hire Your Food Question
When we hire fish for dinner, are we really hiring the fish or the taste, texture, nutrition, or pleasure of eating seafood?
If another candidate could do those jobs while reducing harm to marine life and the environment, shouldn't we invite it to the interview?
Perhaps it's time to expand the candidate pool!
